We have raised a Company of Infantry and invite all those of able body that wish to defend the Union to join.
Company B, Second
Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association, Inc.
is located in La Crosse Wisconsin, the home of the original company, formed as
militia in 1858 and outfitted in 1859.
The La Crosse Democrat of September 20, 1861, tells of a family of five brothers in the county who decided by drawing straws which one should stay home and care for the farm while the others went to war. The item concludes: "This week he enlisted, saying the farm might go to hell - he was off for the war."
"Our La Crosse friends are a
fine looking company of men-just a little wild!"
A Camp Randall
Soldier
"they gave a glamour and
a display
both fearful and entrancing"
E.E. Stickley,
Stonewall Jackson Brigade

As a field organization, we strive to
authentically portray the common infantryman in the Civil War.
As a community organization, we are committed to keeping the history of the Civil War era
alive. Many members do school, 4H, community etc. presentations and living histories.

It is the goal of the members of this Crew to attain proficiency in drill,
authenticity in dress, and to have the general etiquette and knowledge of a
soldier in the Civil War era.
