Died in Battery B, 4th U.S. Artillery from Nov. 7, 61 to Dec. 65. Was absent sick at time of mustering out and trans. to V.R.C., March 16, 64.

Discrepancy regarding discharge date – some records indicate discharge with disability Dec. 6, 1862 while others show no official notice of discharge. Muster and Descriptive Roll indicates discharge presented May 28, 1865 but may be miscopy of Dec. 6, 1862 date.

Solomon Cuddelback, Pvt., 20 years old. Born in New York, was single and a farmer. Enlisted May 22, 1861 at Madison by Capt. Stevens. Had hazel eyes, brown hair, light complexion and stood 5’8″ tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Randolph in Columbia Co. Wounded at White Sulphur Springs Apr. 26, 1862 and sent to General Hospital. Dropped as a deserter Oct. 31, 1863.

Austin H. Lord, Cpl. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Wounded at 1st Bull Run July 21, 1861 and killed September 17, 1862 at Antietam.

Ephraim L. D. Marden, Pvt., 31 years old. Single. Enlisted June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. Stevens. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Springfield, Walworth Co. Discharged for disability at Camp Tillingham, March 10, 1862.

James H. Mardin, Pvt., 21 years old. Born in England, single, farmer. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Grey eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’7″ tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Randolph, Columbia Co. Wounded at 1st Bull Run, taken prisoner at Bristoe Station, VA August 4, 1862, and killed July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, PA.

Peter Martow, Pvt., 23 years old. Born in Ireland, single, farmer. Enlisted May 27, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Grey eyes, black hair, light complexion, 5’10” tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Fox Lake, Dodge Co. Killed Aug. 28, 1862 at Gainesville, VA.

Eric C. Marsh, Pvt., 25 years old. Born in New York, single, farmer. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Grey eyes, light hair, light complexion, 6’0″ tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Fox Lake, Dodge Co. Wounded and taken prisoner at 1st Bull Run. Discharged at Culpeper, VA Feb. 21, 1863 to reenlist in Co. D of this regiment.

Charles J. Marshall, Pvt., 21 years old. Single. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Fox Lake, Dodge Co. Promoted to Sgt. Discharged for disability at Camp Tillingham March 10, 1862 and reduced in rank from Sgt.

Frederick Martin, Pvt., 21 years old. Born in Germany, single, harness maker. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Hazel eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 6’0″ tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Randolph, Columbia Co. Taken prisoner at Bristoe Station, VA, Aug. 6, 1862. Wounded and in hospital from Battle of Gettysburg July 1, 1863 until mustered out April 29, 1864 with disability.

John Mason, Pvt., 27 years old. Born in Wisconsin, married, farmer. Enlisted April 19, 1861 at Fox Lake by Capt. Stevens. Grey eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’7″ tall. Mustered June 11, 1861 at Madison by Capt. McIntyre. Resided at Fox Lake, Dodge Co. Wounded at Gettysburg and discharged at Culpeper, VA Jan. 7, 1864 to enlist in Co. K of the Regiment.
